Homemade Fathers Day Gifts - A "Computer" Candy ArrangementPlease share your homemade Fathers Day gifts with the rest of us. Most Guys love cakes, candy, and other desserts. The candy computer below will make a perfect Father’s Day gift for "Foodie" Dads. Give your Dad a gift he will not forget. He will probably brag about this gift to his friends and colleagues:). See more homemade Fathers Day gifts. Note: This Father's Day craft project is only for your personal use. It is copyrighted. To make this Father’s Day Gift you will need: a Styrofoam sheet, candy, aluminum foil, a picture for screen, and tools (scissors, knife, a hot glue gun).
Step 1. Cut two styrofoam rectangles. You can make a real-size notebook (in this case, you need a lot of candy) or you can make a mini notebook that requires less candy but still looks great. Step 2. Wrap foam blocks in aluminum foil. Step 3. Using hot glue, secure two styrofoam pieces together at a 90 degree or an 80 degree angle. Step 4. Print a picture for your candy computer "screen." It can be just a blue screen with Windows logo or it can be any picture you want. First, make sure the picture you want to use for your candy notebook is on your real computer. Press the button ‘print screen’. Then open any picture editor or a word document and paste this picture. Resize it so it fits your candy notebook. Print the picture. Glue it to the candy notebook. Step 5. Using hot glue (a low temperature glue gun), attach candy pieces around the "screen" and around the "keyboard." Do not forget to cover the sides of the notebook with candy. You can use any candy you want. Step 6. For the "keyboard" use different candy pieces. Your unique personalized gift for Fathers Day is ready. Dad or Grandpa will never forget this sweet gift.
Variation of the candy gift “Computer”
Here is a candy computer made by our site's fan, Kathy Skinner
You can make a desktop computer instead of a notebook. It involves a little bit more work but it is worth the effort. You will need one Styrofoam piece for a screen, one for a keyboard and one for a stand/pedestal. You can wrap the Styrofoam pieces in gold foil or metalized cello or tissue paper. Glue candy pieces. You can also make a thumb drive or a mouse with or without candy pieces (just as decorative elements). It is not really that difficult to make these candy computers and they make awesome homemade Fathers Day gifts. I would love to see your Candy Computers! Please, send your pictures to this email. Happy Father's Day!
